CertainTeed Corporation and its parent company, Saint-Gobain, are honored to be selected as a 2009 ENERGY STAR^® Partner of the Year for Energy Management by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This prestigious award recognizes Saint-Gobain and all of its North American businesses, including CertainTeed, for their accomplishments and leadership in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. CertainTeed, a leading North American manufacturer of building products, is the first-ever manufacturer of fiberglass insulation to win the award.

USGBC

The U.S. Green Building Council developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System as a nationally recognized standard that promotes the design and construction of high-performance “green” buildings. LEED Certification recognizes and rewards builders for meeting the highest performance standards, and LEED-Certified buildings are environmentally responsible, healthy places to live and work. As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), CertainTeed supports the LEED design and construction program.

CaGBC

The Canada Green Building Council was established in December 2002 to promote and accelerate the design and construction of high-performance buildings. In addition to promoting green building principles and benefits, the Council holds the license for LEED^® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in Canada. CertainTeed has been a proud corporate member since 2007

GreenCircle Certified, LLC.

GreenCircle certification provides a third party verification and assurance to builders, regulators and consumers that products labeled with the GreenCircle mark have undergone a rigorous audit process that verifies compliance with the environmental and sustainability claims of the manufacturers.  To date a number of CertainTeed siding, insulation and ceiling products have received this certification.

The Swan

The "Swan" is the official Nordic eco-label, introduced by the Nordic Council of Ministers. In Sweden, the Swan label is managed by SIS Eco-labeling, a non-profit organization, commissioned by the Swedish government and parliament. A product carrying The Nordic Swan Eco-label meets extremely high environmental standards. Most Ecophon products have been granted this eco-label.

Products carrying the Nordic Swan Eco-label should:

• Have minimum content of substances harmful; to the environment or health
• Meet general requirements for low environmental impact on water, soil and air over its whole life cycle

CHPS

CHPS is leading a national movement to improve student performance and the entire educational experience by building the best possible schools. The mission of the Collaborative for High Performance Schools is to facilitate the design, construction and operation of high performance schools: environments that are not only energy and resource efficient, but also healthy, comfortable, well lit, and containing the amenities for a quality education.

CertainTeed understands the importance of building high performance schools and offers products specifically designed to meet the acoustical and durability needs of educational environment.

• Have a high recycled content
• Have low energy consumption during manufacture (in which the use of renewable energy is encouraged)

GREENGUARD^®

Facilitated by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality and GREENGUARD Children & Schools certification programs require products to meet stringent standards in regards to chemical and particle emissions, which can compromise healthy indoor air quality. GREENGUARD standards are based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s purchasing standards, the State of Washington’s Indoor Air Quality Program, Germany’s Blue Angel Program and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.
