What is "Type C" gypsum board?

"Type C" gypsum board is a specially formulated gypsum board, meeting all the requirements of “Type X” gypsum board, with additional properties to further enhance the fire resistive characteristics of the product. Type C gypsum board products will have a UL/ULC Marking printed on the back of each board identifying it as a fire-resistance rated board.
